Using score templates

Mozart's template files are very flexible - it is worth experimenting with them and creating your own.

Templates

Mozart's score template files (*.mzt) store the structure of a score (or simpler piece) and the format for the page on which it is to be printed. The available templates reside in the Windows application data area, typically (eg) for Mozart 17:
    C:\Users\<user-name>\AppData\Roaming\Mozart 17\Templates

Saving templates

App button You can save a template from any piece using "Save a template" in the "Export" section of the File Menu. Then you can use the template whenever you need to create a piece for the same ensembile.

Using the supplied templates

In order to give the sharpest possible image, Mozart ensures that the stave lines are always drawn to match up exactly with the pixels on any device in use. But different printers may have different numbers of "pixels per inch". This means that when different printers are in use, it is advantageous to reformat your music for the current printer (using Mozart's "Page Setup" command from the "Print" section of the File menu). This in turn means that when you first create a piece from a supplied template, it is useful to format your document for your own printer and then save the template. In this way future pieces created from that template will be matched to your printer.
