Arranging for quartets

Art Marshall shares his extensive experience of arranging - in this case for clarinet and saxophone quartets.

Art Marshall

When Art Marshall contacted me about Mozart, it didn't take me long to work out that I 'knew' him already.   He has published quite a collection of excellent arrangements for sax quartet (and other groups) and during the lifetime (1992-2002) of our small Saxophone ensemble "The Sax Section" we had a lot of pleasure performing his work.

Art has very kindly allowed me to include his article on arranging for sax quartet and clarinet quartet here.   I know that many Mozartists (including me) use the program for this kind of arrangement, and it is a privilege for me to be able to include some tips from a widely published professional arranger.   Here they are in PDF format, together with an interview in which he tells us of his path to becoming an arranger.

You can learn more from Art's own site.
